i have a classic range rover 3.5 v8 on carbs and was wondering how to adjust them so it runs better.
it over runs after the key is taken out for a second or 2 and runs like a complete pig.
got some new air filters and sparkplugs coming, just changed the leads and dizzy cap too to no avail..
it is also really really slow and sluggish, and has a job to pull away from lights etc without bogging down badly..

any ideas?

cheers!

Sounds more like your timings out if it's running on
as for carbs it depends what you have on - SU's are fairly straight forward to tune as the mixture screws are on the front of the carbs, Stromberg's are a bit harder as you need a special tool to tune them
Without being cheeky, if I was you I would take it to a garage that has a gas Analyser and get them to tune your carbs for you - they will be able to do your timing too and both jobs shouldn't take long
If you do have Strombergs fitted then order a new pair of diaphragms first as they are prone to splitting and will make tuning impossible
Best not to dick about with carbs and timing if you don't know what you are doing ! ;)
