Why not just replace the piston rings? Physically I would think it would fit don't think it's been done before whether the fuel injection would cope with the smaller engine is questionable and with a heaven beast like a P38 it would be very slow.
IMHO Mick

if it did work at least there is less chance of liner slip :D

is the 3.5 an efi spec motor if not I would put the 4.6 heads on it for the injector relief cuts although the 4.6 heads are better too but it would be more work to swap them.

CPS and knock sensors are the first port of call as above, basically its going to be graft to end up with a right dodgy mongrel of a thing that is HORRENDOUSLY SLOW

just refurb that 4.6 becuase its the GEMS ready block that you need, unless you want to start doing fancy machining and this is really just not worth discussing anymore...

yeah but proper diameter bores man!!! :D
Totally - it might have some chance of lasting.... A decent 3.5 would be as good as a knackered 4.0 / 4.6 . Dont see why it would be such a slug, even when they got fitted with a 2.8 Mitsi diesel they got along well.
Its just not worth the effort, its not that it wouldnt be a good job.

I'll tell ya what! We're part exchanging Against a jap double cab pick up so can get rid of the monster!

Look nice, drive nice, cost a bomb and can't be arsed to fix it- from now on its the tdi's all the way!! Long live diesels.........

(Sorry to those offended by jap trucks- I do still have my 40 y/o series 3 turbo diesel though!!)
