I’ve just been cleaning the swivel housings and associated bits with the pressure washer. I’ll give them some paint tomorrow.

whoops!! I’ll be sure to have the parts catalogue next to me as I’m putting them back together. I can see that could happen quite easily.

Henry, get yourself one bought! There is a 2a 109 truck cab on eBay at the moment for a touch under 5k. Chassis is said to be good. I’m half tempted myself!

Cheers, Joe.

Sorry I didn’t take the time to do the write up on those previous pics. I’ve been having quite the time lining my bulkhead up before I start welding. I had been measuring off of the top of the chassis outriggers at their extremities to the top of the bulkhead. Likewise with the rear tub. I couldn’t get it to measure correctly and sit level. I have since realised that the outriggers are not quite level. I think it’ll all be jiggle-able. The bulkhead-chassis bolt holes in the outriggers aren’t level. I assume (hope) that they’re like that to correct the outrigger level issue. Only around 1/4” out but enough to make me scratch my head for a bit and feel quite thick! I assumed it would all be spot on. View attachment 207446View attachment 207448
Photo doesn’t show it too well, I got fed up of looking at a tape measure and sprit level by the time I noticed. But I’m sure it’ll all be ok

Not doing anything with it today. But I am going to order some bits. I was planning on ordering an auto sparks loom, but they’re shut at the moment. I see craddocks sell one; are they good? Any pro’s or con’s to one or the other? If I buy a complete loom, is it complete? Or do I need to buy any extra bits?

Hope you’re all well!

Joe
Be careful with craddocks at the minute they are taking a very long time to send and process orders and don't respond to emails all the time my other half had a nightmare with them and seen a fair few others with the same issues

Marmaduke, the day after you ordered your loom I had a response from autosparks on Facebook. They are closed but had a loom in stock so didn’t mind posting it out. If you’re not happy with yours it’s an option

Maybe we should compare them? It would be interesting.

ordered lots of bits from paddocks in the end, so fingers crossed. Thanks for the warning though scottishmech. I’ve just had word I’m off work until 1st June so hopefully that’ll see the Landy almost done.

hope everyone is well

Paddocks has closed :oops:oh and I don't do Facebook...

The name's Rob by the way :D

Paddocks website seems to be open till mid morning then shuts. I think you just have to get in early Rob. I’ve just had confirmation that my parcel from them will arrive tomorrow. Ordered last Thursday.

A bit more chipped off today.

Swivel housings stripped down, cleaned and painted. Ready to reassemble with new bits!

One of the new balls with the bearing race in. I don’t have a press at home, so I popped the bearing race and bush in the freezer and warmed the ball up over the hob while ‘r lass wasn’t looking. Dropped in no bother!

Shimming up. When I was pulling it all apart some of the studs came out of the housing, and some nuts span off. I removed them all and cleaned them up with the wire wheel. Then tightened them Back into the housings well. It made the shimming job a dream. (Excuse the mess)

All built up and looking pretty. Hopefully wheel bearings and brake stuff arrives tomorrow.

Had a phone call this afternoon from Craddocks, they're out of stock of looms and don't know when they can fulfill the order :( I'll have to get the missus to try your method as I don't do Facebook cos I haven't got enough friends :D

Bugger! That’s a shame. Mine hasn’t arrived yet, I ordered it bank holiday Friday so hopefully shouldn’t be too far away. Let me know how you get on...

Has your wiring loom turned up yet Joe?

Now then! Yes, it turned up yesterday. It looks spot on. I haven’t had it up against any diagrams yet but the general quality looks really good. Very pleased. Been some action over the last couple of days, again, next to no photos. But this is how she’s sitting

It’s got an odd sized tyre on the back, I need to swap that. I’ll whip the tub off tomorrow and start to look at putting the engine back in, brake lines, bulkhead etc etc. Exciting times.

Can anyone clarify, as my old engine mounts/chassis had been buggered about. I have the two brackets on the engine. Am I correct in saying the n/s engine mount goes straight to the chassis, and the o/s has the angle bracket on the chassis which the mount then bolts to? If this isn’t the case I’m missing some bits!

Cheers,

Joe
