the rolling circumference is pretty much the same as 235/85/16's and they fit but i believe 265's will foul the bodywork too much due to the extra tyre width.

why does it have to be done tomorrow?

as ive got too much on in the week and im impatient like an 8 yr old child @ xmas lol

i dont mind cutting bodywork and bumpers etc i just dont want to lift it if i can avoid it

trial and error time in the morning im thinking, im going to do the camel cut and trim end caps then go from there if it catches bad itll have to wait til next weekend to get lifted

blimey thats ambitious have you done one? its a job of work!

I keep toying with the idea; no having to muck about with prop shafts, radius arms, panard rods and the like. You get the extra clearance with less of a shift in the centre of gravity BUT you don't get the extra articulation, you have to watch you don't damage bits of wiring, you have to alter the bumper mounts and I think fiddle with the gear linkages.

I've tried to get some info on a body lift but so far I haven't found anyone who can give me any pointers. Hey ho, it could still be on the cards though, I fed up of getting the Rangie beached on it's diffs because the wheels/tyres don't give me the clearance.

i have done a body lift on a disco bobtail and i can say it takes about a day on one of them, gear linkage isn't a problem its the steering linkage it needs extending by about an inch (cant remember exact) on a 2" body lift

Right here's the deal. You do NOT need to change the suspension to fit 265s to a disco. I've had 265/75 BFG mud tyres on three diffferent discos. What you need to do is trim the front bumper end caps, or remove them altogether. Trim the rear wheel arches. Depending on what wheels you are using you may need to alter the steering lock stops to prevent the tyres fouling the radius arms on full lock. If you stick the wheels on you'll see what needs trimming straight away. Then if you find the tyres catch later you can just slice a bit more off as neccesary.

Just my thoughts after having 235/85 r 16's on a disco is NO you dont need a lift.
fit them then put if at max articulation if it catches move it, grid it, cut it, what ever it takes for the tyre to clear the body work by at least 20mm.

ok i've got a set of 235/85/16's not much different in size to the ones you want to fit.I've got a 2" lift and the tyres still occasionally hit the rear inner arches.

Well ive fitted em this morning and as so far have no issues ive removed the inner lip from bumper corners and done a camel cut thats from top of rubbing strip and 3" back from edge ive only had to adjust the lock when turning right...

im a happy bunny looks much much better now and my tranny noise has gone? possibly from running different tyres on corners
