Hi

Has anyone had experience of using 255/85/16 (Goodrich MT is the only tyre
in this size I am aware of currently) size tyres fitted to Wolf rims on a
110 Land Rover? If so are the wolf rims wide enough for these tyres and is
the 2-3% over gearing that noticeable?

Many thanks

C Thomas

Hmm. Anyone know if those fit on 101 rims ? 255 x .85 = 8.5 " ?

Yes they will fit on a 101 and there are a couple of people with them
(there are a few references to them if you search on here or the 101
yahoo list).

I reckon that theyre as close in overall diameter to a 9.00x16 as you
can get in a normal metric size.

Craddocks sell a couple of different makes of this size tyre including
wildcat's i think.

I plan to buy a set of this size tyres for my 101 when i get it back
on the road.

from craddocks' web site:

'all terrain' type
255/85R16 WILDCAT LT ALL TERRAIN £ 83.19
255/85R16 WILDCAT RADIAL LT £ 112.76

'mud' type
255/85R16 WILDCAT/DURANGO M/T £ 91.25
255/85R16 BF GOODRICH MUD TERRAIN T/A KM £ 97.87

I'm not sure what to go for. I dont know how much of a 'mud' tyre the
BFG's are. I'm really impressed with the trac edges i have on the 2A
but i guess they are an all terrain not a mud tyre.

no, should be, doubt it. Might even make the speedo more accurate.

The wolf rims are good, but beware - I think they are thicker metal than
normal rims.
You may need longer studs.

still pressed steel, can't see 'em being that much thicker. I put 3rd party
8-spokes on my 110, which are thicker, without trouble.
