24V FFR Horn & indicators problem solved!

Hi All, just passing on some info that may save time, expense & nerve’s. Had a problem a few years ago with Horn & indicators not working at all on a 1980 Series 3 FFR, Main beam on headlights ok, thought it was horn indicator stalk so replaced. Not the problem, problem found to to be aux relay behind light switch panel central panel, part number is FV426648. Part is usually new but old stock. I ordered 1 but it was faulty, company replaced it and problem solved. Last week similar problem occurred, searched this site and someone suggested replacing with modern equivalent. Done some research and found a pack of 2 X relays 24v 40A on Amazon for £8 odd, compared with the original for £35 + VAT. I know the purest’s amongst us will say “ but it’s not original” but it’s not seen & it works!

Hi there, new member here

I have found this post while Googling for a solution to my indicators, hazard switch and horn all not working on my Series 3 FFR

I appreciate this is a very old post but would you, or anyone else, be able to share the part number of the relay you got from Amazon?

I bought a couple but my problem isn't solved and it may be that I've got the wrong one. I can't really understand what the diagram on the relay is telling me.

A photo of your relay may help me to see if I've bought the same thing.

For what it's worth, the indicators and/or hazards don't come on at all. The horn is very feeble sounding, and the indicator telltale on the dash stays on solid regardless of whether the hazard switch is on, or the indicator stalk up, down or off. I seem to have power to the switch on the steering column but nothing going from it to the lights. I don't know if this means the relay or the switch is at fault. Or the hazards switch??

The fact that you have power at switch and to horn even if it feeble suggests that this is a switch problem not a relay problem. A lot of circuits go through the hazard warning switch and I would start there! If not possible indicator stalk switch, I’ve had to replace both in the last couple of years! Hope this helps! Update us on what you find.
