This one has us stumped. Using nearly 2l of oil every 1,000 miles. Absolutely no leaks whatsoever - in the garage for the second time yesterday and bone dry.

Can not get it to shuck any smoke out of the back either. No signs on smoke around the exhausts and I have had people follow me whilst I kept booting it, and nothing whatsoever. Its been though 8L of oil since October. First thoughts are turbos, but I think its driving fine and the total lack of smoke is odd. I can't imagine the DPF is cleaning it up to the extent, we can't see any out of the back.

I also think the occupancy sensor on the passenger side may have gone, local garage haven't done one and say it looks tricky unless you know what you are doing. I'm going to take it to a specialist, but wondered if anyone had done it, and i its a biggy? Thanks all

Don't know what your oil problem is but my step son had the same thing with his corsa. Using loads of oil but no excessive smoke or leaks and no oil in the water coolant. His engine went bang just before Xmas. The middle piston smashed into his spark plug and valves. I suspect the big ends had worn to such an extent that the piston was able to rise a couple of millimetres high than normal, although there was no knocking noise you would normally expect with big end wear. Still a mystery where his oil was going though. I've been working on cars for 40 odd years and never seen this.

I would suspect the cat and dpf are cleaning up the smoke.............no leaks then it MUST be burning it..........not going to be cheap to fix :(

That's my fear, but i'm amazed the DPF could gobble up that much smoke when I'm hammering the throttle. Very strange, but the facts are the facts - there is oil going in and none coming out so it must be being burnt!!

Hiya did find what was causing the oil loss

I believe the garage who serviced it had used the wrong oil. LR changed the oil and it hasn't used a drop since. They are known to do this with the wrong oil and its the only explanation I can think of.
