Hi guys

Has anyone here had their 2003-2009 RR (PETROL) facelift converted to 2010 spec?

If so, how did you/whoever did your conversion solve the air filter problem?

We noted that the air filter will not fit our 2004 with the new 2010 bumper assembly, but can only find an induction kit solution - but not everyone wants an induction kit!

Considered getting an air filter from the diesel - no good. Then from a newer 2006 shape car - but on the wrong side. Then for good measure a P38 4.6 - but again on the wrong side.

Any help much appreciated!!!

I'm hoping someone has had their 4.4 car converted and tell me what air filter they put in to replace the original.

hi mate, i have a facelift range rover and you have to use a non-genuine air filter, i use a K&N performance lifetime air filter, never had any issues with it, it even sounds better!! now sounds like a supercharged range rover!

Hi Matt

Thanks for the reply - much appreciated!!

May I ask a couple of questions?

1) Did you do the conversion yourself or did you get it done by one of the specialists (DC4x4 etc)?

2) Is the K&N Air Filter like an induction kit (i.e. a cone on the end of a tube), or is it a new airbox with air filter inside? I don't suppose you have a photo of your engine bay handy by any chance?

Many thanks!!

Matt, thought yours was 2006 facelift? He is looking for 2010 facelift, so faces (see what I did there!) a different problem. Sorry in advance if I'm talking crap.

Not sure it makes much difference to be honest mate.

If I remember - the problem is the newer lights are deeper than the old square ones. This uses up space where the air box goes.

It looks like OP's car is a 2004 V8 so the Powertec unit will fit nicely behind the light cluster. They don't take up much space at all.

Only problem I do see (although it's not been THAT bad so far) is sucking in warm air from the engine. Guess you might lose a few horses in the summer but there's not much else you can do other than fit a venting system from the inner wing.

it does not matter if its a 2006 or 2010 conversion the problem is the size of the physical lights compared to the older square lights, which ever conversion you are doing you need to change the air filter.

In answer to your question i have the cone shaped filter not a air filter box, and i purchased the car with the 06 conversion already done, but from what i can see the conversion is very simple for the 06 facelift with the 2010 facelift you can have issues with the LED lights etc...

Hi guys

Yes, it is the headlights which cause the space issue and so a change of filter is required.

I think the only way forward will be to use something like a K&N universal cone filter.

For the diesel it is different again. Apparently the original air filter can stay in place but it is 'modified'. I assume this means filing a corner down or something to allow it to fit??? Have not got that far in my investigations yet. Anyone else know?

Many thanks!
