200tdi vacuum pump base to block oil leak

Guys, as above, have a reasonable oil leak between base of vacuum pump and block. My new and previous pump did not have the plate as shown below between the two gaskets [#6]. Should my Defender 200tdi engine have/need this plate...and if so, would this fix the oil leak.

One gasket will be enough if it’s in good condition, the plate isn’t necessary,
A good clean with a smear of hylomar blue should do it,

Me bad, have cocked up. I used Granville's usually excellent RTV Sealent on the new gasket/plate/pump surfaces. The engine oil has eaten this I know remember I was out of Hylomar at the time and thought RTV would do this. I'm still out of Hylomar, so a trip to the local motor parts store 8 a.m. trow and refit before brunch
