Tidy looking motor. How are the front inner wings ? Have just replaced mine. I have a factory fitted 200 RRC been driving it every day for over 10 years..... great motor, will cruse at 70 all day and do near 30 mpg's. Yes a bit noisy but if you like the sound of a diesel then that's none the worst..... if you don't.... turn the radio up !!

surprisingly solid. I think they will rub down and re paint without any welding required. But will need to investigate properly when its home and in the workshop. I still have the original set off my 1984 RRC sat outside the workshop so I know where to look closely for the tin worm

Spares always handy to have...... didn't have to look to close to find it on mine...... not quite sure what was holding the head lights in place !!

Saint.V8 I got most of what you said but can you confirm the HGF bit please.
Tis true what Saint says.... the head gasket blows across the cylinder wall and out the back of the engine, very distinctive 'chuffing' sound when running.
I also had the same problem across No's 2 and 3. lots of white smoke and a bubbling header tank. A water drilling from the block to head is not used (no mating hole in the head) but the hole is still in the gasket which allows the water to eat away at the ally head..... eventually reaching the cylinders.

I checked that when I went to see it. The engine was smooth and, for a 200tdi quite. Not tappety chuffing or breathing heavy. Cold start and the smoke was clear the turbo was quiet so all seams good. I will give it a full service when I finish the bodywork but hopefully it will be on the road within a month

I do have access to a complete tuned engine and box from a Disco that is currently sat in the back of my friends series 3 at the bottom of his garden.

Before I pay flebay prices does anyone have any tailgates for sale? I need both.

Tow vehicle and trailer organised for Sunday. Bottom tailgate bought just need to collect, top tailgate ordered, sills and rear cross member ordered from YRM, got tyres and other bit's in stock. As soon as that's on and the electricary is fixed MOT time [emoji41]

looking forward to seeing another restoration, just finished my 1986 classic 200tdi and manual box change took me since beginning of december and putting it on road on sunday 1st march, just one problem the central console doesn;t fit the manual gearchange. been looking out for a manual console but they are like rocking horse do da.

I have just fit a LT77 in my 1984 V8 and had to cut the alloy tunnel cover. In my 1988 I broke it was a hole that the gearstick lower gator screwed to then a plastic cover over it. I haven't taken the trim off this one yet. I'm hoping that it will be a simple bit of welding then put it on the road and do bits over time as I want it for my daily run around. My 1984 is my main priority as I need a Long wheel base coil sprung land rover on the road before the 20th May as I have booked into the ALRC Nationals.
