200tdi no power in 4th and 5th

does anybody know why my 200tdi retro fit 90 loses power in 4th and 5th gears?

air restricted to turbo ,turbo pressure feed to diapragm on injection pump leaking /not connected,air in fuel ,wastegtate stuck or not connected so open

Reason i asked is i have just fitted a safare snorkel to mine and its a lot less powerful in the higher gears than it was as std, so to try just disconnect the flex that runs between the snorkel and the air filter at the air filter end very easy takes seconds
Then test drive, if no different you probably have a fuel fault as said above
I would start with fuel filter first then lift pump.

hey, thanks, tried disconnecting the snorkel and made a bit of difference but not much. i stripped the air system right back to the turbo and id say that its kaput :/ it sounds very rattly, almost a grinding noise from the inside

defo caput then..........my dads disco 300tdi is exactly the same. Do you know anyone who does good deals on new turbos?

na, not really, just been searching through ebay and the prices vary from about £80 up to well in the hundreds...

What does the turbine feel like with hand? free to rotate, minimal lift and not enough so rotor is touching the casing.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

the guy who did the conversion before i owned the 90, fitted the bar that goes from the actuator to the exhaust valve the wrong way up (pointing down and not pointing up).
so basically the turbo was working but not actually doing anything for the engine.

now able to overtake bumblebees...
