from what i have read its abit of a fiddle to fit i.e. rerouting the pipe work etc. and yes you do gain abit but its not gonna turn it in to a sports car thats for sure

Fitting am not worried about as a can weld it up with a new pipe and tabs for bolts ect just wondering weather I'd get more power. So doing that and bumping pump up will give me more, I'll do it cheers :rolly:

I have an Allard full size intercooler and tweaked pump on my 200TDi and the increase is very noticeable. Just bear in mind that suddenly giving the thing more ooooomph is going to need paying for elsewhere in terms of shortening component life from the extra load. I ended up with leaks all over the place from the extra stresses. Sorted out now and worth the effort for the extra power but not a job for the faint hearted.

As they say nothing in life comes free!!

you will notice no difference atall it will all be in the mind, fitting a larger intercooler you will have to fiddle around with the fueling

you will get just as much "improvement" from new filters, oil change, intercooler flush n clean
dont waste your time on summit that will offer no real gains

ahhhh, slight hijack here.. :hijacked:

was on a fairly long motorway drive today, pulled up for 5 mins or so. thought it check the oil while waiting.. all good. anyway i felt the pipes going in/out of the intercooler and i was rather shocked to find the pipe OUT of the cooler was significantly hotter than the pipe IN!?? surely that cant be right!??

Rubbish. Large cooling surface and tweaked fuel pump make a massive difference. I have dyno figures to prove it.

Problem with extra power is its hard on the transmission. I ended up with leaking diffs and transfer box.

like i said you have to mess around with fuelling

in a 200/300 tdi there will be no difference a td5 yes there will
a 200/300 tdi aint gonna suddenly turn into a sports car by adding additional volume of cooler air

i have a tweaked 200 tdi and whilst its a bit quicker than standard the downside is the plumes of black smoke

i stand by a good service and existing intercooler clean will offer the same benefits,

be interested to see the before n after dyno figures to prove me wrong tho:rolleyes:

Like I said rubbish. I dont get any black smoke and pre dyno figure was 107, after intercooler a pump mods 132. It's much more responsive across the range and the fuel economy is better when driven normally. Not quite in the league of my GT3 but worth having!!!

:blabla:

so prove me wrong and post the pics of the dyno printout

and i think your moving away from the op originals point

which was about fitting a td5 intercooler to a 200 tdi

nothing about allards, allisport or any other aftermarket intercoolers

I just thought that adding the bigger intercooler and tearing the pump (some more) would add a tad more power, my mate had a alisport one on n it's made a load off difference but is just as fast as mine now but against a standard one it steams it,

So will it be worth doing, the td5 cooler is cheeper than am after market one but bigger than the standard one on mine

TD5 intercooler (not sure) and as already said bitch to make up pipes, but I have the 300tdi with full size allisport 60mm intercooler tweaked pump and shortened rod on turbo and it will spin up in 3rd round a bend (off public highway) and I am on my third engine this year.

Is it worth it??? YES!!!!
Well I think so anyway but others think its nuts

I had a V8 in mine previously and it was too expensive to run so brought a 300 TDI and tried getting the same power but it don't work for long so maybe not a good idea!!
