200tdi in a series 1

Measure up a 300tdi manifold first, I've never tried it, some guy on the american forum claims to have done it.
Spacers under the axle will get a disco axle in, at the price of loosing suspension travel, not so good if you plan to off road, also you might have issues with the track rod that goes accross one side to the other, I seem to recall that the disco's track rod goes the other side of the diff and gets in the way of the diff housing or propshaft.

That's not right, I'm as good as certain a Defender bellhousing will not fit onto a Series gearbox. I don't really know, but I'd guess that an early SIIA or SII bellhousing might fit your gearbox, but you'd have to partly dismantle the gearbox to change the bellhousing anyway as it contains the input shaft and layshaft bearings. Best to just bolt a IIA box onto the 200tdi I think, because the the IIA boxes have a reputation for being strong which the box needs to be to cope with 200ftlbs of torque.

FFS is no one gonna say "DO A SEARCH" just google Glencoyne engineering or "200di into a series" and there'll be hundreds of pages appears.

I agree with fenners on that one, the bellhousing on a series does hold the burrins for the layshaft and mainshaft in the box, whereas deffy box's as far as I know older ones are the lt77, the housing off which will not fit a series box.
If the flywheel housing will go on the 2 or 2a box use that, you need to mod the flywheel housing its not difficult, as mentioned do the search.
