First off in sorry if this is the wrong place. This is my first thread!
All I'm wondering is. . . . . . Will a 200tdi gearbox and transfer box for a 200tdi disco fit a 200tdi defender???
One has come up cheap and I'm convinced my transfer box is responsible for the clunking noise underneath

Usual place for a first post is Introduce Yourself! :)
And your query might be better in General Land Rover, or Defender section! ;)
But now you are here.

I don't understand your question about the box, can you re-phrase that?

I wouldnt assume the clunking is to do with the tranny box, quite a number of things might cause that, and if it is the box, it could be an easy fix.

transfer box will if you swap hand brake assembly and drill 2 holes for the bracket, gear box is longer so wont fit unless you move engine forward. have you checked gear box main shaft /input gear splines for wear

Ahh I see. . . Sorry again.

Ive had a look underneath while someone sat inside and snatched the clutch and it sounds to be coming from the tranny box.
(the clunk happens when changing gear)
All the uj's dont seem too bad.
I've found a gearbox and transfer box of a disco 200tdi and I just wondred If it would fit my 200tdi defender.

Oh ok thanks.
Sounds like more searching on ebay then.
I've had a look and I can't seem to see any significant wear

Like James says, check for wear on the input splines, replacement gear is available. A frame balljoint, bushes, drive flanges etc. also worth a check.
