Plz not too much abuse here. I have done searches. But not found exactly what i wanted.

I understand that taking off the turbo makes fitting the exhaust manifold much easier. But can u use the orginal 200tdi manifold and get some exhaust flexi hose and connect it at the next covient point in the system??? Or is this not possible??

Also seen in a few LRO mags that the conversion kit for top/bottom hoses are really exspenive. Is this really necessary??? OR is there a cheaper way round it.

Please feed the noob ;)

cheers

What you fitting it to ? SWB, LWB?
I spent a day ****ing around bodging an exhaust up and it was crap, i just got a full system from steve parker land rovers for £280 such a difference quality and everything fits lovely.

I've used the petrol fanimold off the 2.25, just had to cut open the upper holes and some minor bits but fits nicely. Tis was on a S3 LWB.
I've heard it can be a pain getting the turbo off the manlyfold.

good luck, let us know how it works out.

SWB series 2a. £280 ... ouch, thats more than the engine.
Petrol or doozil?

Erm, 280 quid is quite steep, you can get quite a few series manifold for that...
If you don't intend to sell it, try to do something with your existing series manifold.

If it's a petrol let me know. I'll send you some photos how I've done it. Havent seen that online myself yet.

SWB your turbo will clear the chassis etc,
Yer 280 i thought too much got the whole disco for that, but then looking at it another way 280 for a full exhaust system isnt bad and its aluminiused steel and comes with all bolts and new hangers etc.

Hmm, thats a little cheaper. :D

will check it out DM. thanks

...

only two months. :!!!!!:

Could i get a tubing and bend it too shape Or is it too complicated. My dad is a heating engineer so i has HUGE pipe benders :p Or is it extremely complicated design?

Happy new year everyone btw.

Edit : Just looked at ebay. Thats the badger. Don't look to hard to make tbh. Just some tubing and tig welding. [What would be the best steel for this? {mild steel}]

I made my exhaust system, seems to work a treat, bought it out through the wheel arch, under the chassis then back box under passenger seat with tail pipe just in front of rear passenger wheel.

Rough as arseholes made from a knacked rover exhaust, but enough to get the show on the road.
You can mek summat up from scrap bits, a bit more time would get something that doesnt reduce ground clearance.

i`ve had flexi on my 200 tdi conversion for about 18 months now done a lot of miles spose it varies in quality i paid 50 quid for a 5 foot lenght 2 3/4 diameter no grumbles at all stuck the box on the end an it exits just before the rear wheel had no problems at all with it hope this helps

Thats not bad at all, they tend to go quicker when close to the engine.

I suppose it depends if you has the turbo or not.
My de-turboed has an EGT of less than 200degC but if uphill, where it goes to 350-400degC max, measured about two inches below manlyfolly.

If I have to do it only every one and a half years, I'd even put in the turbo and use flexi...
