hi
can someone tell me if it is ok to use a defender turbo on a disco engine as i have a bloke who has done the conversion and has managed to use the old down pipe and it went straight on?? instead of refabing a new bit of pipe like most i here off. Also is there anything obvious i should be looking for to check it is all done properly as i am so not a mechanic!! Paul
 
it seems the turbo is on the top right corner of engine and not down low, how can this be as all i have read says turbo should be low right???
 
also do you have to use disco alternator,pas pump,fuel filter and td clutch slave cylinder or can u use defender parts and mix and match??

He probably used the disco gearbox as well
 
The Defender manifold will fit with some small adjustments and a bracing plate made up, and if you're up for it, the Disco turbo will fit the Def manifold with abit more work.

A fair few links in threads recently regarding it, some on my 200TDi project thread, Storm got a reply with links when he asked a similar question.

Search for fitting Disco200TDi's in LHD Landy's, it's where most of the mods are done.

If it's a straight forward swap from a 19J to a 200TDi Defender engine, then yes, all pipe work is the same including downpipe.
