Hi there, I am new to the Landrover scene, love the vehicle and always wanted one. I recently purchased one with some work to be done on her. The most prominent issue I would like to address is the shuddering. I have searched through many forums and youtube clips but can find no conclusive answers.

Details:
2008 Freelander 2 HSE auto (Diesel)

Symptoms: When cold - No problem at all
At opearting temp: from second to 3rd and 3rd to fourth, just before gear change and when accelerating (around the 1800RPM mark, there is a shudder. I can feel it on the steering wheel and through the car. Similar to a feeling when engine mounts are shot. I can drive through it, and is then smooth as silk. The event is more prominent on an incline. If RPM is below 1800 on a flat road, not prominent at all (Might be there, just not feeling it )

Done thus far:
* Transfer box (This was serviced - Trans oil changed)
* Mounts
* Propshaft or universal (Removed the prop shaft and tested for a few km's with no change)

Its flippen annoying not knowing what it is, any guidance?

If it's shuddering when hot, in the higher gears, then it's most likely the torque converter lock up clutch is worn.
You can try a transmission fluid change, which may help for a bit.
You can put a tube of Dr Trany's Shudder Fix in the fluid, which will help as a temporary measure, but the only real cure is a replacement TC.

Mine has done it for 4 years but not got any worse I put some shudder fix in it and it improved a bit but not causing enough problems to spend a fortune on torque converter
