Afternoon,

Took my mums RR out for a drive this afternoon and it was not behaving as it should. It felt very lumpy, so much so I could noticeably feel it inside, felt asthough I was going down a cobbled street in a Defender! It was was surging a little, the revs kept jumping only a little but noticeable. Only happened from cold, once warmed up it drove normally. Got about 79k miles on the clock if that makes any odds.

Dash has been saying 'Check Coolant Level' for months now but the coolant level looks fine. Though I did notice what looked like oil around the rad/boost pipes.

Any suggestions before I take it down to LR?

Thanks.

If the coolant level is indeed fine when checked cold.....I'd suggest looking at the level sensor or wiring thereto.....

As for the hoses....check the breather hoses aren't collapsed causing over pressure in the system.

Failing that, it is really lumpy, get the cylinder compressions checked.

Those hoses are for the intercooler. I had the same problem when I had one. Buy a RH and LH intercooler pipes and fit them. Is the car smokey at high revs? Hopefully it hasn't been driven too long like this. My pipes went at 65k. Re-fitted new ones which were quite cheap and gave the car a gentle run through gradually building revs (not too much).

It looks like it has no vacuum in the pipes and they have either split or are worn at the connection pipe. In fact you can see the diert and damp from the gasses escaping.

Try this. It worked on mine. When re-fitting check the pipes a few days later as if you dont fit them quire right they rub in the bonnet liner its a close fit between them and the liner above the engine when the bonnet is closed.

P.S. I also had the coolant level issue and opened the coolant carefully using lots of towels (not recommending doing this by the way) it dislodged an air pocket due to the pressure (i may have been lucky) and had no further issue.

My TD6 used to throw this warning, level was fine, finally after getting to the bottom of the issue (after new sensor etc) it turned out it was the coolant mixture, not enough anti freeze to water the in system.

Get a tester and check it!
Hope this helps.

Cheers guys. Not too far but it has been driven, two of the pipes where replaced last year due to spliting. Doesnt appear smokey at all

The RR is a little beyond my skill so have booked it in at the garage.
