Quick question,
Where is the amplifier located in a 2007 Freelander 2 with a stock Alpine unit?

Search high and low and cant find it!

Thanks

Is it behind the plastic panel on the right hand side beneath the back/boot window?

Or

On the bottom behind the metal panel housing a speaker? Just to the right of the spare wheel.

And any instructions how to remove either one?

Behind the big trim below the window

Remove rear seatbelt lower mount from front of trim
Remove quarter turn fixings
Remove boot seal
Can’t remember if there’s any more screws to remove
Trim is then clipped to the bodywork so gently pull from boot seal area and work your way forward

Thanks for the info, just went to go have a look and feel like im missing something obvious...
The seatbelt lower mount isnt attached at all to that panel either. is it 100% behind the panel and any other ways to remove it as its just not budging :/

SUCCESS!

Managed to just pry and pop open a few studs at the back end near the boot opening and unplug the wiring loom i needed from there. Thanks for confirming where i should have been looking.

So now ive 95% of where i need to be. I have a new radio with reverse sensors working, steering wheel controls working.

I have 2 final questions and then ill be set and happy as larry!

On the wiring loom behind the original radio, which wire would be for the Illumination controls, and which wire for Reversing (if any)?
I read on the forums, somebody spliced in to the ground wire of the Hazard light switch, is that recommended or, no?

Glad you got sorted - sorry was doing it from memory - been a while since I’ve been in that quarter on a FL2.

Reverse feed you’ll have to take from the reverse light circuit - I’ll have a look in a bit for best place to tap into by centre console.

Illumination again I’ll look at wires and best place to tap into.

What head unit you fitting?

Illumination is best from centre switchpack - brown wire pin 5

Reverse light is a green/white wire from the body controller to the rear lamps - can’t remember which side of the car the harness runs between the two - you’ll have to have a look and check the wires using test lamp or multimeter

Its a 10.1 inch Eonon unit, hopefully should look nice once I put everything back together.

Thanks for the info, is the centre switchback the connector going in to the hazard light dash piece?

I would have expected there to be a reverse sensor wire in there too as there is button with led on there that turns on when you turn the sensors on.

Ah yeah forgot about the park aid switch - have to try it - not sure if it’ll overload the circuit or if it is earth switched

Yes the hazard light switch pack is what I was referring to

So I'm a moron (still), and the wire from the centre switchback pack sparked and guessing it's blown a fuse somewhere.

Any idea where the fuse is location and which one for the centre switchback?
