Can anyone help? I found a thread on here where the EPB could be reset on the car, with difficulty, by removing the lid on the unit above the Diff. After some travail, rust bolts, rusty screws and the like, I have the lid off. I cannot find the thread with the instructions on how to wind the mechanism back. HELP?

Have you adjusted the EPB shoes? If the EPB module is screaming, then the cables have reached the limit of movement, meaning the shoes aren't adjusted correctly. The screaming you can hear is the gears on the rack slipping. There's nothing to wind back in the module, it's all done at the shoes, unless the emergency release cable under the console has been pulled.

Thanks for your help. So, i did pull the release cable some months back, I have only just got around to this, MoT coming up. I stripped the rear LHS last night, looks like ir was waded in a past life, quite the horror story. I have adjusted the shoes but the EPB is on its travel limit. (FYI, I have been working in Canada and the car is here with me but it's going in ISO next week as we try to get home to France in time for Brexit).........now that the shoes are adjusted (they look like they are quite recent, no wear) can I do anything with the EPB. It is still installed on the car but the lid is off and the car is on stands......!

hiya

as you’ve pulled the release cable the EPB module needs relatching, here’s a link to show u how it’s done

https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/epb-repairunjam-relatch-91299.html?highlight=Relatch

hope that’s helps and don’t hesitate to ask as there’s plenty of us to always help if u get stuck

Hey, thanks but that thread is where this all started, i found it and it prompted me to join the Disco Forum despite me have a RRSport TDV6 2.7. OK so the when I look at my EPB internals I see something different. I see the brass rod all the way to the right but the white unit (on the left of the picture) is actually connected to the brass rod in my unit and is over to the Right i.e. they're not separated as seen in the picture. Are you open to a chat?

Maybe, when I pulled the cable, I didn't pull it enough. I know I pulled it with some ease but recent articles have said it needs some significant effort. Perhaps that what I need to do, pull the release, separate the elements which will allow me to wind the mechanism back. then I can re-latch the way the article, you sent, describes. Phil

Hiya

Found a video for u that shows what position the thread bar should be in

hopefully it will help clear the questions up for u

I’m not 100% if u can rewind it with both cables connected because there be taught

u normally use diagnostics to use a program called dismount which makes life easier ,

always a pleasure to help where I can, plus don’t forget please ignore the first section of the video because it’s on a different model, it shows u about the epb module
