Hi All,

The resonance dampers situated at the rear of the car adjacent to both tail pipes. Are they supposed to move really freely on their rubber mounting or is there supposed to be a little resistance? I ask because I have a knocking noise coming from the rear of the car and I wondered if the resonance weights could be the problem. Mine move quite freely.

Any help or advice always gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Also Check ur wishbone / drop links and ARB bushings

Put suspension into access height , grab top of tyre and rock it, see if there’s any movement

Also Does the noise appear when u brake

Thanks for response, no it doesn’t happen when I brake only around bad roads going down hill. Also it appears to happen down hill around corners. Lateral movement so to speak.

Thanks

Thanks gstuart, boot components all secured, Jack etc. First thing I checked actually. Nothing is ever that simple with me. Strangely I can drive over speed bumps (metal ones) and no issues at all. I am away for a week now so I will address it when I come back. Thanks again

Sorry for the delay in updating, life gets in the way of knocking noises. Anyway, the solution to my knocking issues was the D Bushes on rear Anti Roll bar. They simply needed replacing.

Thanks for all your help.

Merry Christmas
Cheers

I used to fit these in the factory. They do move really freely. 1 fitted each side of chassis at the rear.

Hiya

There tuned mass weights , aka harmonic absorber, harmonic damper ..as said to reduce vibration and a smooth ride.
