Possessed range rover sport 2008 2.7 tdv6

Any thoughts on the following . The issues started in this order
1st Rear tail gate kept opening on its own and at same time had every light on dash light up for transmission failure and lowered suspension. Tail gate switch was broken and full of water which has been changed now and this issue seems ok
2nd. Drove car today and notices that I could select reverse without having to put foot on brake pedal. Thought id switch off and reset whilst I had my foot on the brake and removed the key but motor kept going with everything on. Removed foot off brake and car engine stopped. Then without the key in ignition i pressed brake pedal and ignition was connected as if key was in position 2 . No key in ignition
3. The switch that locks the windows from being opened by passengers now doesn't work.

I read on forums that electric faults with water in switches can affect things and after changing the tailgate switch which was full of water I was hoping that this would be cured. Is my car going to die????

I’ve just clicked ‘watch thread’ as I do enjoy reading about these weird and wonderful problems RRs throw up.

RR ownership is a full time job. That’s why I like the Defender, it has 1 main artery and it’s always an earth fault - good luck

Battery voltage and bad earths can cause all sorts of interesting things and not so interesting things to happen.

Thanks. Ive a new brake switch to fit and an earth leakage testing kit so attacking the possessed beast tomorrow
Seems to be when lights are switched on or auto then I can select drive without foot on brake. Also lights off everything ok lights on nothing works as it should

I would check the battery negative cable to body is clean and tight and it wouldnt hurt to put an extra earth between engine and body.

Going to attack the earth cable. Ive not been under yet but any pointers as where it is as battery cable just disappears down the back of battery.
Progress
Fitted new brake switch and done nothing. Checked all light bulbs. Have just measured for voltage from negative terminal to body. With lights off 0.04v. Lights on 0.28 v. So im assuming its earthing problem.
Quick question if I get a jump lead and just connect from battery to body to see if earthing out body works to be sure im looking for an earth strap problem would this be a good idea?

Bloody car driving me mental as was perfect until last week and now possessed

D3 seem to suffer from broken engine to body earth strap cant see rr being any different?

where is earth strap connection on rr sport 2008? Sure ill find it but just for a good starting point

Try a jump lead fron the negative battery post directly to the engine.

No idea, I keep seeing lots of recent threads on it and it is now on my to do list, newest car I read of this problem on was a 2016 d4.

My other land rovers have straps from bat neg to chass and another lead from bat neg to chassis, I think one even has another from chassis to engine, literally cannot have enough.

Thought I would shed light on the possessed Range Rover sport. Had a lot of advice on different forums and facebook and took the battery to get it tested. Even though it showed 12v it ha=d failed inside and had no power. Not sure how that works but I replied the battery and very issue I had was resolved. Car back to perfect. Still find it hard to believe that a simple battery failure where the battery still started the car every day could cause so many problems, Car like new now

So the possessed saga continues. I changed battery and everything was perfect so I thought, And then same things started happening . Now I have the same as before but to be more exact now if I turn lights on the car goes mental. Lights off everything fine. Lights on gear level selection without foot on brake, errors everywhere, etc as above.

So what would cause turning the lights on to do all this. Im thinking a bad earth but not sure
