Does anybody else get a check coolant warning at 80mph or is it just mine?
Only done 80mph 4 or 5 times but each time I have had the warning.

Low coolant warning can mean two things, either the coolant is low or the antifreeze mix is too weak. Or both.

Checked both and they are fine.

I know but sometimes I just get carried away :)

No real clue but could there be a blockage somewhere, which for some reason is only affected as you hit 80+ ?

Addit: Just had a thought. Could it be a wire. Under 80 the movement/vibrations are maybe not enough to affect it, hit 80 and it moves?

I used to get this in my E46 3'er......turned out to be an airlock, when the engine got over a certain rpm for a sustained period, it used to drag coolant out of the expansion tank so quickly that the airlock in the rad expansion hose would form preventing coolant to recirc back to the tank....

One thing they state is when bleeding or topping up the coolant, make sure the rad bleed hose is clear of coolant first to allow the air in the system to pass through....

@gold rover & @Saint.V8 cheers for the suggestions. Saint.v8 theory does sound the more likely as it did happen once at around 50 going up a long hill when the car jerked a few times as if cutting out and then recovered. I'll try sticking it manual and get the revs up for a while. And I will check the wiring :)

I think the Saint may have scored another point here. 70mph 4th gear 1/4 mile and ping, check coolant level. Did the same on return trip with the same result. Another niggle to put on the list :)
Cheers for the pointer.
