Hello
I am in the process of removing the high pressure pump, everything is out / off bar the sprocket nut.
How do I find TDC to fit the locking pin to stop the engine turning when I undo this nut?

Thanks

No need to find TDC as the pump isn't timed. It just takes a drive from the timing chain. You can undo the nut by putting it into gear. I don't bother though, I just crack the nut with a sharp tap on a breaker bar.
You need the pulley retaining tool to do the job.

I'm about to remove my high pressure pump from my 06 td4..... am i right in thinking.... car in gear.....pulley removal tool is enough to lock the engine without the timing pin?

The pump isn't timed like on a VW or Audi engine. It simply takes drive from the timing chain. The retaining nut won't be tight, it's about 30Nm IIRC.
The sprocket retainer needs to be inserted after the nut is removed. Then retainer then prevents the sprocket from falling into the sump. Once the retainer is secured, the inner section is screwed in so it can push the pump out if the taper in the sprocket. The 3 retaining nuts on the pump need removing before the pump is pushed off it's sprocket.
