Afternoon All,

I assume I have the gearbox oil temperature issue where it down shifts to speed up rpm in order to increase flow through cooler.

Having researched the threads I provided a summary for the local garage - my local garage being a small but enthusiastic (non LR) establishment in North Holland wear I work occasionally, while it went in for some other work.

I've not had an alarm for high temperature, and (touch wood), no codes stored. I dont have the means to measure the trans oil temperature, but having crawled underneath the sump was pretty hot - I'll try and acquire a laser temp gun or something.

So the summary sort of went along the lines of: suspect bottom rows of radiator core - replace Radiator, check oil cooler, replace oil cooler, check/replace thermostat. Change ATF and filter. while sump off, check the sensors.

The local mechanic (who is a Disco 4 driver) "phoned a friend" and came up with a quote to do a conversion from heat exchanger (cooler) to radiator, bypassing/blanking off most of the likely culprits with a couple of hoses, a couple of hours and 320 euros...

So my question is... is this conversion an actual thing? have @bremble or @Saintv8 and other esteemed experts come across this proposal before? I'm unsure about deviating from standard, even if its probably cheaper then the summary of potential issues I listed.

Any comments or suggestions truly welcome (other than rude ones hahah), but I'd like to be able to achieve a smooth ride home in a couple of weeks.

Cheers
