Just wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of what the 7 x 4 inch panel that the stereo fits in to is called in my 2005 Defender, and where I can get a replacement, as I have searched on eBay and the web and cant find a seller of such item? I am sure I'm not searching it correctly as I am not entirely sure whats its called, mine has a crack in it and it needs replacing as it comes unclipped constantly.
Not sure why LR made such a big hole in the dash for a single din stereo either?
Its the one replacement part I have not been able to find.

Mine used to come out too. It holds the entire weight of the radio so when you went over bumps the radio would come out and dangle from its wires. I got a new one and it was much better for a while but then the spring clips at either side started giving up the ghost and letting it out. Eventually I screwed it in with some black self tapping screws that match the interior décor of the Land Rover quite well and hold it in firmly.

Someone tried that unsuccessfully previously, only with a couple of thick wood screws, probably without drilling a pilot hole first and split the surround, the last owner did not seem to have any skills whatsoever.

I've put three dome head self tappers along the bottom of mine so the heads just overlap the edge of the panel to stop it popping out. There are a lot of black self tapper heads in a Land Rover dashboard anyway so they don't look out of place.
