had the battery disconnected for about 2 weeks on my 2004 4.4 as i wasnt needing to use it , as we all know the battery would only go flat after a while
anyway on reconnection i found that tickover was erratic and sometimes the engine would cut out ,after a while it seemed to have righted itself
anyone think this is normal it didnt do this before the battery was disconnected , i can only guess it is resetting its adaptive values as these may be wiped on battery disconnection :)

update

problem seems to go when the engine gets warm but on startup revs up and down ,stops etc anyway while all this was happening i had the rear light clusters removed as i was removeing the light guards ,plug the light clusters back in and all problems are gone runs as sweet as a nut - unplug the problem comes back . now who would expect the light clusters to affect engine tickover
