HI,

Is there any reason why both my front brakes should stick on slightly. One side I could understand ( lots of mechanical reasons ) but both at same time. No off roading done, a lot of rain though? Is there any electrical valve / other sensor fail that could cause this.

All help / ideas welcome

all the best

Mark

you could try( time and tools permitting) exercising the calipers by pushing the pistons back in then carefully using the pedal to move them out to touch the pads again. Oh and your last brake fluid change?

I had to do that to mine on my 2004 which worked ok on one side but the near side is still a bit warmer than I'd like. I have new discs and 4 seal kits to fit when I get 5 minutes ...

HI,

Thanks I understand that but is it just a bad / unusual coincidence that both sides front are sticking at same time? I was looking to find if there was a valve / sensor ? particular to RR? Rear are fine.

how are the rubber hoses?
no crimping or harsh bends in them?
when was your brake fluid last changed? Every two years as a rule! Could be contaminated at the caliper end. That's usually were the crud in the fluid ends up.

Pure coincidence..... brake fluid is hygroscopic and probably has never been changed.
Moisture in the fluid corrodes the pistons which then bind on the piston seals as Mark suggests.

No fangled valve or other interventions, your brakes need looking at, or exchanged for magic beans!;)

HI All,

Thanks for all replies. I had no internet access. I stripped down brakes and found one caliper to be quite seized, Both dics really worn with a big lip on edge.
I have ordered two new calipers new discs and pads. I will fit these next week. I will also change the fluid as suggested.

Any tips on changing fluid - anything to watch out for?

All the best

The girlfriend has a MacBook Pro...I am gonna see if I can get RAVE on to it as this comes up a lot!
HI

How did you go? Did you have chance to look into this. I can read PDF's just cannot down load this RAVE thing!!!
If I cannot get this to download does anyone have the PDF section on changing the brake fluid and could they send it or post it here?

Thanks Mark

I thought Apple invented the USB port...........

If you can accept a download of a pdf, then I could print the rave manual to a pdf and save on dropbox. If that helps?

Cheers
