2003 L322 TD6 - Ignition fault- not the normal one

Hi All,
I've got a 2003 L322, put the key in the ignition, and the key won't turn, you can hear the steering lock coming on and off repeatedly.
When you try the usual - Take fuse 18 out/ disconnect battery, it makes no difference.
I can't get T4 to work as I can't turn the ignition on!
Any thought would be gratefull

Fixed - I replaced the barrel and it did the same. I then assumed it must be a warn key, as you could hear the steering lock coming on and off.
As a last ditch attempt I thought I would try the Blackbox Solutions way and drill a hole in the steering lock casing and lubricate the steering lock catch, just in case! Hey presto it all started working !

Hi.
i've got same problem key wont turn and steering lock stuck on.
fuse trick won't work.
ive managed turn ignition on using the jumper wire on column wire but engine wont crank.
ive got hold of another column and plugged it in still wont turn ignition.
