...I see this problem all over the web: Range Rover P38 sound stops working while the lights, functions, NAV, CD still work. I've swapped out stereo head unit, AMP, disconnected NAV and speakers, but still nada - has anyone seen a remedy? oh yeah - there is no steering -wheel-mute on this model - thanks!

see if there is a circuit board in the line of connections behind the stereo, if so this is for the phone and can be taken out. see if that helps!

The earlier ones had an issue with the steering wheel controls giving an incorrect signal to the head unit which it interpreted as a mute signal from a mobile phone. Not sure if this is true for the later Alpine units though. This is fixed by fitting new wheel controls - about £35

Thanks both - Alpines don't have the phone mut on the wheel but thinking it must be related to phone - haven't seen a circuit board, but haven't gotten too far behind the panel either - I do know there is a line for a phone connection back around the amp - must lead to a board - will check and revert - will also figure out that morse code

Non of the P38s have a mute button on the wheel. It is just a feature of the Clarion units. Its just the headunit getting confused by the wrong signal from either the volume or mode buttons on the wheel.

None of you have had problems with a noise coming out just from the front speakers? Is la an interference noise or when you have bad reception but it is coming out even with the CD player. And only from the high and mid range speaker. I test the bass speaker and it is in good condition but there is no sound coming from it. I have to listen to the radio using only the rear doors speakers. Anyone knows what to check next ? I have the same RR 2002 HSE

Today the audio finally die. The radio is on but no audio from speakers. I gest it is the amplifier cause there is no audio from the Nav also. Is there a place that sell that Amp.?

hey everyone... been having the same problem but have one piece of information that might help someone out there know the answer to what is causing this. everything turns on and works. just no sound. if i try to adjust the system... i.e. bass treble etc. then i get all the options except for the last one. the one that lets me choose between spatial and driver. it just doesn't show up at all.. just goes back to the radio station scrolling across the screen. bass.. treble.. sub.. fade.. balance.. then should be spatial or driver but nothing.. and the few time that it has turned on the spatial and driver option IS there but if i try to adjust it then the speakers cut out again and the option disappears. hoping this will make sense to someone and thy can tell me what is up. really want to get this fixed as i have a road trip ahead and i miss my sounds. as always.. thank you very much ahead of time.

i have a spare amp i bought but dont need as mine is now working on the original amp

pm me if intrested harmon kardon amp from behind the subb in the boot

I never noticed before but I don't get the "spatial/driver" option now either. Did you ever figure out? Only thing I haven't tried swapping is BECM - prob not going to happen.

Found a great replacement for the amp. Blaupunkt PCA 465. It have an auxiliary input to put your NAV system using a headphone jack and you can decide if you want it in the front speakers or the rear. I used the front channels fro the mid-range speakers and the rear channels to power the bass speakers cause it has an integrated crossover and it sounds pretty good. You have to put a filter if you use the same +12V as the original cause the engine noise gets to the speakers.

If you have the radio code, pull out fuse 1 under the drivers seat on the side of the BECM for a few seconds then put it back in. Enter the radio code and see if it works.

There is a write up about it on landywiki..Andy Cunninghams site.:behindsofa:

if you do a search for dsp amp you will see i have covered this issue many times before,it is an amp that is inside the rear body panel behind the subwoofer, there is no known fix other than a new one or one that is known to work,£300+ from landrover this is fitted to range rover h/k sytems from 2000 to model run out

I had the "Mute" display appear on the display after pressing the buttons on the steering wheel and couldn't get sound out of the radio etc.
Read about the fix on the web and it worked for me and it has also worked for others with the Diversity unit.
If you don't want to try it..don't bother.
