Hi, does anyone have a definitive guide please on how to remove with care and not breaking anything the switch panel so i can change my unlit cruise control switch for a new switch. It appears the switch cannot be withdrawn from the front as i tried this today with a pair or feeler guages to try and unlock the switch.

Cheers

You’ll scratch hell outta your dash doing that and they won’t come out. The rocker switch maybe.

The side panels come out and down (May have to move switch pack), dash binnacle out as there’s a screw under there +1 other side and ones by the hevac.

I got the whole lot off the other day, most of the screws were missing or the fixings broken.
Once the side panels are off, that your knee rubs against, take the hevac unit out and there's 2 more screws behind it

LMAO!!!

Yes- this car has gone from being my daily transport to my hobby and now my wife (according to my actual wife who has demoted herself to "concubine"). Still- I have to admit that having the car run after a big DIY job does give you a sense of satisfaction far greater than driving out of the local Land Rover showroom in a brand new L405.

Just take your time, learn the steps, wait for a nice day and the right mood to hit, and then go for it! You'll be fine.

Actually I remember doing mine a while back when I changed the stereo. It's not that hard but it is nerve wracking because of the disassembly work you need to do with the biscuit-strength cheap, ageing plastics (and Top Gear think Proton make bad cars? Really?) the dash is made with.

DO NOT RUSH THIS. The right frame of mind, the right day and an ample supply of tea and biscuits (and cigarettes if so inclined) are absolutely critical.

Cheers buddy. I am learning this all the time each day. Now looks like i have to support the bloody gearbox and remove the main chassis cross member just to be able to change the front zorst CATALYST pipe. !!!!!!! when will it ever end i ask. The love and TLC and money i have invested in to this P38 and all it does is keep kicking me in the balls all the time. I wish cars could speak to us as i would just say " do you want to be scrapped or what " ?? LOL.
