Dash switch removal/replacement method??

2002 model P38 2.5 TD:
Because i like things to be 100% and working inside my P38 i noticed the cruise control dash panel master switch does not light up when pressed as it is supposed to do. Most likely the bulb blown in it. I spotted a genuine RR on ebay for £9 so ive bought it and waiting for it to arrive.

Is it easy to change or do i have to remove the whole top dash switch panel for removal/replacement or do they pop out front ways with a small thin screw driver??

Sorted my fuel flap switch and dash bulbs the other day and they are all ok now and i can read the dash display. Its the switch second to the left adjacent to the blank cover.

There's a small (& easily breakable) tab top & bottom of the switch, but almost impossible to depress both tabs & pull the switch from the front.

Much easier to take 10 minutes to do the side panels & cluster surround, and then unscrew the whole panel. Then you can wiggle the switch from behind, and push it forward.

Cheers, i was sort of thinking that would be the best way.

Some say you can do it with feeler guages but damned if I could. There are little bulbs in the switch that can be replaced but I am unsure what size and rating they are. Marty replaced his with LEDs but I think he had to solder them.
 
They are all getting old now, passed what the manufactures now want them to last, how many Vectra`s of the same age do you see about:rolleyes:
Its because the p38`s such a nice motor to drive that we keep them on the road and put up with work they need:D

Deffo my thinking too and the same applies to my other classics in my collection. I have always tended to own British cars too. Loyalty to my country to the end.
