2002 discovery2 td5 starting problem

Hi,I am very new to this forum,and not sure how it all works,but if there is anybody out there that can help me I would be most grateful,I have recently bought a 2002 discovery 2 td5 which runs great,until morning,when you have to keep turning over until it eventually starts,the problem I have is sometimes when you have initially started it,when you switch off and leave for hours,it will start immediately, then other times you switch off and leave for 30 mins,and won't start without exsessive turn over,there has also been once or twice on occasion,that when you come to a junction or traffic lights it will stall,and is very difficult to 'restart,but this does not happen often,please can anyone help me as I really like this discovery,and I just want it to be everything that it should be,
