Discovery2 auto box slipping ?

Hi, I have a discovery 2 auto Td5 it’s recently been difficult to select first gear when in drive you got to rev it a bit then a few seconds later it goes ?
Any help would be really appreciated

Have you tried to pull away by select “1” then moving to drive?

Yes I’ve put it in 1 it’s fine then select d and it’s perfect until I come to and stop again and I need to select 1 again to set off

Ok then there is a “common” problem in the box. Think it’s called a sprag clutch/ one way clutch/ freewheel clutch. Search that with your gearbox ZF4 hp22 and it should turn up some results with more detail.
When was the last time the oil was changed?

But bottom line is it’s on its way out, needs rebuild/replace.
