Hi,
Was just filling the disco up with diesel the other day. Went in to pay for it, locked the car, came out from paying, unlocked, got in and started the engine.
Engine started for 1/4second (if that) and immediately stopped. I thought initially I must be going daft and had turned the key back before the engine had started. Upon trying to restart the engine, it cranked over at its normal fast speed for a good 10 seconds but would not start or even splutter. Left it 10 seconds and tried again, still would not start.
Thinking back from my 300tdi which developed the infamous spider immobiliser problem, I thought I might have somehow upset the immobiliser which might have cut the fuel pump. Locked the car for 5seconds and unlocked it again, restarted the engine and it burst into life immediately.
This was about a week ago and it's not played up since, but don't particularly want it to happen again and not restart or get worse. Has anybody heard of this before? Or can I put it down to a one-off?
Car is still under a garage warranty as I've only had it a month so if its a common problem or likely to be expensive I'd quite like to get it fixed under the warranty
