Hi guys, 2001 td4 auto. Every now and again, I think its 4th to 5th whilst driving along i loose drive. Almost like the box has slipped into neutral. Back off the throttle and on again and its OK. Has done it 3 or 4 times in the last couple of hundred miles, any ideas?

Is it definitely dropping to neutral, or is it dropping down to 1st?
My 2005 TD4 SE did the dropping to 1st thing, when changing from 4th to 5th, initially, then randomly in any gear. Unfortunately I could never find the issue, and electronic integrations didn't help.
I put it down to a worn clutch pack, so sold the vehicle spares or repairs. :(

Sounds like what mine's doing, although I suspect it's a cracked reverse piston, by all the reading up I've been doing...how much did you get for your td4 nodge if you don't mind me asking, as I may be going down the same road as you with mine. I'm getting fed up of fixing it all the time.

What happens to the rev guage on the dash display when the fault occurs? Do the revs rise/fall or stay the same?

After the fault clears, does everything work as normal, like it should, as if the fault never happened?

Does the accelerator pedal increase and decrease the revs on the dash display during the period of time the fault occurs?

Not a bad price.. What year n mileage was it, mine's a 2000 with around 145k on it, not sure how much to advertise it for?

Mine was a 2005 facelift with full leather, and the winter option, and 135k on it.
A 2000 would be worth less, unfortunately. :(
