Hi all
wondering if someone could shed some light on wiring for single amp in rear.
i have downloaded rave manual followed the wiring Brown wire from pin 15 at amp this should them go
to purple at passenger front foot well. guess what no it goes to black which in turn ends up
at drivers a post earth connection. confused or what.
the amp is a Harmon Karden XQK 100340
any help or guidance would be appreciated.
thank you.
Mark

I have no music from speakers all i get is clicking noise sporadically. if i bridge out head unit out puts to speaker connections at amplifier
i do get music but very quiet volume.

So depending on the system fitted and as you have the single DSP amp in the rear either your head unit is faulty or the dsp amp its self is dead if its the amp its time to replace the whole sound system, head units are readily available on the bay but make sure they come with a code.
If you had door amps I would have said head unit defo. Do you have sat Nav ?? That can go faulty and mute the sound if you do unplug it and test

Thanks for info yes I do have sat navigation I will disconnect tomorrow and test and see what happens
Been a bit busy today moving daughter at university nice job not.
Thanks again

Cheers Grrrrrr,

I have been working on a replacement solution for the DSP amp to basically swap it out for a plate with 4 standard door amps on it, as the head unit will work with them.
I have done a thread with progress so far on Rangerovers.net - and am at the point where I have one unit actually built and ready for testing. I just need to get time to get up to my workshop and install it in my 2000 Vogue which has a dead DSP amp, so I can make sure it actually works as it should in the vehicle.

Currently I don't have a way of making the Nav audio work as the DSP amp switches that internally - but I'm looking into options for a changeover relay/mute line into the head unit, so that way it will send the nav audio to the drivers door.

Out of interest, can someone WITH a working DSP amp system AND navigation let me know how the nav audio is supposed to work in the factory setup? Does it mute all the speakers and then play Nav audio through all of them, just the drivers door etc? Does it just mute drivers door and play instructions through that?

Cheers,
Marty

Thank you Grrrrrr and marty for your advice.and the fact that some one is trying to sort the issues and come up with a solution.
i can assume then the models with door amps dont suffer the same fate as the single amp models is that correct.
i am still slightly conflicted with the fact that my wiring of the single amp does not correspond with the rave manual that i have
downloaded as i posted at the beginning of this thread any help with this would be so appreciated
i am one confused man
thanks

Which section of the RAVE manual are you looking in? In the one I have, there are a few different ETM versions for the P38. The 1999 onwards one has a lot of pages in the 'Radio' section, with the final part being for the 'Premium' version, which is the single DSP amp version.

I've extracted the pages from the RAVE version I've got and attaches them here for you.

I don't know when I'm going to get the chance to try out my DSP replacement unit - I really just need an afternoon to be able to get up to the workshop and sit down with a soldering iron and get the wiring done. Next week is already looking busy - but after that there is hopefully a couple of days in which I can get back on track with some of my projects!

Marty
