Hi everyone :)

i am new to land rover ownership and got a 1987 land rover 90.
i want give it a service etc.. as not sure when it was last done.
the guy i bought it off said it had 200 tdi engine.
i think it is a disco 200 tdi engine. how would i tell and if it is could anyone tell me what oil , filters etc i need?

Usual procedure is to introduce yourself first pal. ;);)
:welcome2::welcome2: anyways. You could try having a :search::search:, failing that post a piccy (We likes piccys we do) and someone far more knowledgeable than myself will no doubt come along and tell you eggzackerly what you have got in your motor.:cool::cool:
 
welcome,if its a defender 200tdi the turbo will be on top of the engine at the side of manifold,if its a disco 200tdi the turbo will be down the side of engine near the exhaust down pipe

ah so its a disco then. cheers for that. got some pics now to make sure.
so if i get disco 200tdi service parts should be right :eek:
 
Either can be made to fit!

People have successfully installed both - I used the Disco one when I did my conversion as my old TD one was in a right old state. Have a read through of the various 200tdi conversion threads to see how people have sorted it.

Where are you located by the way? Maybe someone local to you can let you see how theirs is fitted?
 
Ok cheers i have been looking through the site to see if i can find some info. just got to find a cheap airbox now with pipework. cant find a lot on ebay at the mo :(

im in st leonards near ringwood , hants.
 
Ok service done.:) disco airbox installed and pipework all sorted:)

next on the list wire up some spotlights. the last owner put bucket seats in so i just wanted to check the battery is located under the passenger seat befor going to the effort of removing it. lol
did do a search on the forum but couldnt find confirmation.
appologies for all the questions but am fairly new to land rovers and want to get mine ready for some off road fun :D
