200 Tdi in a rangie

Hi everybody I'm a newbie and looking for help. I've got an Old Rangie with a disco engine fitted 200Tdi. Problem is the 3.5 V8 Auto box isn't working to well with the 200tdi. Can anyone tell me was the 200 tdi disco available with Auto, so I can try and track down a box, or can the engine be uprated to give it enough power to drive the box if you know what I mean. Alternatively, it was suggested that just fitting a different torque converter would do the trick. Unfortunatly can't find a supplier who knows what to fit. Any help, part no's, suppliers would be greatly appreciated as this has been sat in the garage for over a year now and I think it's about time I got it moving again.
