After going to a local " pay and play day " at an old chalk pit this sunday, I,ve come away desperately wanting to get amongst it properly. I did take my Disco TD5 with the veiw to going round some of the gentler stuff, but I would have shagged it up ! ( and the Mr,s would kill me ).

A lot of the lads there had old 200 and 300,s and were having some real fun with them. And its quite impressive what these old buses can do with the right tyres and a bit of experiance.

Anyway, my car dealer mate has a 200 Tdi he took in as a part ex, quite clean, not too much rot, MOT and 133000 miles. It starts first time, doesnt smoke or crunch the gears. He wants £ 500 for it.

Is this a good price, and would this truck make a good fun day car ?.

Any opinions welcome.

Cheers.

a cd player whats one of them?:p
make sure shes not "too" rusty check and double check boot floor, sills, inner wings, rear arches there the main killer of early discos other than that there great cheap toys :D

check carefully the rust / rot areas.... you might have trouble next year.

The 200s are good fun toys, mine (below on the sig) is fully kitted out and it goes everywhere... love it!
but bought a defender 90 last month, so the disco will be for sale soon! :)

So I,ve got the truck and am going through what I need to do to get it ready for " action ".

Front and rear bumpers of, recovery points front and rear together with belts tightened and fluids checked.

Not so bothered about a snorkle for the first run out.

The only thing I,m struggling to find is a set of tyres, it has standard Pirelli Scorpions on which I,m afraid will leave stuck a lot.

Does anyone know anywhere to get cheap second hand mud tyres from ?
I,ve been on ebay, but it looks quite expensive for tyres.
235/85/16 or 750x16 is roughly the size I,m after.

85's will be a bit too tall for standard height, itll rip the arches to pieces too over any terrain! unless your intending on lifting it or cutting lots of arch away!! 235/75 16's will be better, but if you do lift it theyll look tiny!
