After fitting a re con engine, then having the gearbox and transfer box re conned, I was left with a major vibration at tickover, it went through the floor panels, bulkhead, steering wheel, roof panel, pretty much everywhere.
After trying sound deadening, then playing with the fuel pump, neither did any good, so after never having a 200tdi before I assumed its how they are and put up with it for 8 months,
Then came across this,
New Engine Mounts Cure Vibration ? Nick's Land Rover - Series III rebuild and restoration

So I ordered the same mounts from Glencoyne 4x4, cost £40 for engine and gearbox, and the difference is like night and day,
probably the best money ive spent on the thing, the new mounts are so much softer than the first set of mounts I fitted, which although were new are obviously a crap rubber compound

I totally agree 100% this is exactly what I went through with mine! I tried to run it to see if they softened up some but no! bought the glencoyne mounts all four and the difference you can't even explain . I'd defiantly recommend them. It was driving me insane the vibration

I fitted the glencoyne one to my s2 tdi its was without a shadow of a doubt one of the most arseholey jobs i have ever done on a land rover.
You have to cut them in a certain way to get them to fit the very restricted space, took me ages.
Obviously on a defender you have **** loads of room
BUT in their defence they did make the old girl better, not massively so but I could tell

no cutting needed on a defender, fit exactly the same as the old ones

Many thanks for the share. This sounds perfect and is on my list now...
