2 wheels off the ground

Hi all.

I have a question. I've had a couple of situations recently where I have two diagonal wheels off the ground in my landy. Which of course leads to no drive. This is usually on a rutted uphill surface.
Obviously difflocks would solve this. I was wondering though if the brakes can be used in the same way. I've never tried it, and maybe it's a well known technique, I don't know. But if I have two wheels off the ground can I hold the foot brake on to slow the spinning wheels and give me drive to the two with grip? I'm always in low ratio when this situation arises.

The path of least resistance will always allow the wheels to spin, if you think about it your braking power will have to have more resistance than the wheels on the ground

Diff lockers will help greatly (obviously) or try to approach your hazard differently so diagonal wheels aren't off the ground

Fit a winch

left foot braking is a good way of ganing grip when you are cross axled i do it all the time

Right I'll give it a go next time then. Got a perkins up front so no risk of stalling hehe.

Its a tecnique used to great effect with ABS. However it really does works to a degree.

On series or 90/110 with rear drums locking up the spinning wheel with the snail cam brake adjuster could get you out of a spot of bother,often you only need to move the vehicle a few inches to get unstuck.
