Cheers, mark

So are you trying to remove the IRD from the vehicle, or are you trying to crack it open on the bench?

If removing from vehicle, im pretty sure you need to remove the exhaust manifold and exhaust.

I did this for the 1st time just a few days ago.

Nightmare doesn't even begin to describe it

No need to remove the exhaust, but having the car as high as poss (ramps at the back, axle stands at the front) is a big help.

You need to manouvre under to the rear of the subframe and "find" the two bolts with your fingers.

I used a 15mm single hex socket on a wobbly half inch drive 6 inch long extension with a universal joint to get round the bend and onto another short extension then the ratchet.

However, you may find an easier route.

Feel where the bolts are and feel your way (single handed) how to attach the socket to the bolt over & over till you get it right.

I ended up removing the exhaust front pipe and the front sub frame. Made the job so much easier. Haynes says to undo the anti role bar from the sub frame and let it hang. I just undid the drop links and kept the anti role bar attached the subframe. Rebuilt the IRd today. just need to put it all back together now.
