Hi,
my land rover 90 2.5TD recently "after" an MOT started to make a very loud rattle, (like a spitfire), i took it to a garage and one of the pistons was wobbling and needs to be replaced. (it flew through the MOT £45)
what is the easiest way to do this?
new engine?
piston and re-bore?

any advice would be excellent on how anyone has done it or alternatives. other pistons are fine only 1 wobbles.

thanks
Rob

if you have a problem with bores/piston, you need to rebore to new piston size +20 or +40 you buy pistons and get block bored then honed to size, for one to go is unusual unless its little end, or oil squirt at bottom of bore has broken, you have to do all 4 ,rebore usually £125 pistons with rings, each ring will need removing and pushed into bore squarely with piston and gap measured and filed to size if necessary
