Hey up peeps,
I was wondering if you could help diagnose this problem with our autobox on our p38 2.5dse.
The way I can describe it is that its as if the clutch has gone in the autobox as it will move and go into all the gears but it just revs and no go. Is this thie torque converter or what? Any chance of someone haveing a diag package to check the autobox out please? Car is currently in Doncaster but I would happily pay money for someone who knows about the p38s rather than anyone else.
I have priced up a replacement box but if there is an alternative fix I would be mich apreciated at what I could do.
The fluid is a pink colour by the way so I afaik its not the issue.

Cheerz in advance

No warning lights it goes into gears etc just got no drive. It's a beautiful 4x4 but just gutted that its not driveable. it did originally come up with gearbox overheat fault but no issues while driving. But its not come back up but that may be because its not been driven for along time.

but can you feel it go into gear ,hear any difference ,you could have broken transfer box or 2 bust diffs etc and have same symptoms ,or broken drive plate so no drive to torque convertor or selected cable broken /slipping in clamp etc

Yeah you can hear it clunk into gear as such tbh. I can see the prop spin when it tries to drive. as I said it does go forward and backwards but with barely any speed no matter what gear you choose.

presumably oil levels correct and nobodies just changed filter and left o rings off ,in which case another box or stripping of yours would be required

oil and filter was just to find out if anybody had done anything that could lead to your symptom rather than actual box fault

If you can see the prop spin when you try to drive then it aint the gear box, the prop should not be able to spin, it might twitch when you select drive, but it should not rotate until the car moves.
If one diff has failed and now the VCU has also failed due to the extra load of running with one diff then that could be the answer.
Worth jacking a wheel front, then back and seing what happens when you turn a wheel.

So you want me to jack just 1 front wheel in the air and then what? Sorry for sounding daft pal.
