hi all

im new to the landrover world and have purchased myself a green 1987 90 with the 2.5 turbo 19j engine. i noticed that the breather from oil filler cap to air filter has been disconnected?? the oil filler cap has braided hose connected to a bit of pipe and is just dangling in the engine bay puffing smoke out the bottom. any ideas why this may of been done at all??? also how the hell are you supposed to get the screws out that hold the door hinges on!! is there a knack to it? and last but not least how do you stop alluminium corrosion!!??

This pipe would once have been plumbed into the air intake. This in response to EU enviro-regs.Oil can block the air filter, especially when the engine is worn.At the risk of upsetting the green lobby I would run like this,LR engines ran open to the air for decades. There will be another breather at the back of the rocker cover.Use the best oil you cn in yr 19J.

cheer turboman i will leave well alone though it is puffing the smoke out of this pipe, is that ok? also i have oil leaking out the sump, if sump is getting pressurised what usually causes this? it may be just the gasket but it certainly comes out a fair bit. regards

Usually worn rings and bores sometimes a cracked piston. In and out puffing ok but a steady stream of oily smokeis not.Where is the leak from? How many miles has it done?

is it much hassle to chuck a tdi in? what better the 200 or 300? and trouble is i dont know any1 that would do it on the cheap either ;-(
