Chequered history? A bit of 'fiddling'??
Went on the Gov website to check on MOT history etc.
Its been off the road for many years, but for its last 3 it failed on ABS, SRS, & a wheel nut missing off each wheel!!
Now here's the 'iffy' bit, there was a PASS a few hours later the same day at a different test station!!

This happened for the last 3 years it was on the road, the wheel nuts, well probably someone want locking nuts for another car, but what the hell was done to make it pass???

Also, when I finally got it running, the message centre informs, SRS, ABS airbag fault along with Traction fault, EAS, AND it still had 4 wheel nuts missing!!
I've sorted the wheel nuts!
So I think I bought the car with the very same problems it had for the last 3 or so years it was on the road.

SRS check connector under the seat. ABS can be sensir not pushed in all the way, damaged reluctor ring or sometines the connection for the bulb on the instrument cluster acts up.

ALL connectors have been cleaned/sprayed with contact cleaner, ( they were very good anyway )
ALL sensors have been removed & they were also like new, pulled out very easily.
ALL bulbs in dash have also been renewed.
Is there a way I can somehow test the sensors? as I haven't yet managed to get my Rovacom to talk to any of the ECUs except the BeCM!!

Is it possible to send ALL the ECUs someplace for them to be inspected and or repaired??
You won the lottery? Anything is possible but expect a big bill to test all ECU's.
It takes more than a quick look sometimes to see corrosion between the pins of a connector that will cause problems.
Have you checked the OBD connector for corrosion? Even the wires corrode off sometimes.

For the srs connections, cut the plugs off and solder/butt connect them together. The pins and sleeves are so tiny that any trace of crap or corrosion will affect the resistance values. Just been through this on a client's p38. All the plugs were removed and 4 faults terminated 👍

I think the fact you cannot connect to anything but the BECM is telling. I'm with Datatek, pull out the OBD connector and check it very carefully for corrosion on the back and inside the pins.

The ABS sensors have an expected resistance value that people have discussed on here somewhere. The reluctor ring has been known to loose teeth or crack. Later models with 4W TC have also been known to have ECU issues but I think your communication issue with the BECM is the main suspect.

Ah-ha!
I just MIGHT have found the problem, upon checking all the modules on my Rovacom, I realise that id bought all the software for my old P38 which was a 1996 model, this 'new' one is 2002, maybe this is why it reads some as they are all common to all models'
Just been on the Blackbox site & found later modules, emailed them & hopefully they can provide me with the later software, watch this space????

Hi, not sure if the same applies to P38's but on D2's you can't turn ABS lights off with diagnostics. Once the fault has been 'corrected' it has to be driven a certain distance/speed & if the fault(s) aren't present the check system will extinguish the light(s). Please feel free to tell me too keep me nose out :).

The P38 always has to exceed 7kph to extinguish the ABS light from start up.

Although I already separated, checked, cleaned all the yellow connectors, I now wonder if I did it right, is there any danger of me somehow 'setting-off' the airbags by messing with them?
I think I WILL do the above, at least that will be one potential problem out of the way.
I know of 2, one by each seat base, are there any others?

Disconnect the battery, wait 10 minutes and you can work on the connectors. Just do not put an ohm meter across the pins leading to the airbag or the seatbelt retractor charge.

One beneath each seat for the seat airbag and the two beneath the side step plastics, one each side. Also inside the glove box is the dashboard airbag plug. 👍

Blackbox just got back to me stating that the Faultmate modules are the same as Rovacom ( doesn't say so in their website )
Now then, the cost of the extra modules comes to £370.00, do you think a Nanocom will be a better bet for a few quid more??

Cos there's a fair bit if faff with Rovacom, special OBD lead to printer plug to black plastic box to printer lead to alloy box, to printer lead to laptop ( with printer socket ) When i'm in the car with it, there's wires etc. everywhere.

Whereas the Nanocom plugs directly into the OBD socket? Yes?
