Hi everyone,
I've just bought a 110 2.5 n/a diesel, which i would love a bit more if it would start!
When i bought it, one of the core plugs had popped out in the recent cold weather, am i being optimistic in hoping that there is going to be no serious damage to the engine? It has run since i got it, and sounded o.k.
The trouble is it wont start again, the core plug has been replaced, along with new glow plugs, the battery isnt brilliant, but with jump leads it does sound like it would like to start. Only other thing is there was a drip from the exhaust down pipe, appeared to be coming from within the exhaust!
Would appreciate the help and addvice,
cheers

ok..when you use the jump cables give it 30 seconds pre-warm, do not touch the throttle at all...at all...until it starts..try that to start with.

Are you sure fuel is getting through? If its been stood a while it may have condensation in the filter, theres a nut on the bottom of the filter housing, undo that and see if pure diesel runs out.

Thanks Guys,
Managed to get it running (sort of), sounded like a bag of hammers and oil was coming out of the top of the engine aswell as a few other places it should'nt have been!
Im guessing next step is stripping the engine down as its something bad inside?

If the engine is FUBAR dont bother doing a rebuild...get a 200tdi and throw it in...lots of threads on this.

too much oil is dangerous dont run the engine until you drain it out. it can self distruct violently leaving you with no engine at all

cant see any water in the oil, will double check when i drain it. would excess oil cause a knocking noise when it was running?

finally had a chance to drain the oil, no water in it! have also taken the head off and found the gasket completly knackered, especially between the 2 middle cylinders, the cylinders themselves appear to be good though, the hot spots (if thats the correct term for them) all have cracks in them, will these faults be the cause of the problem? or should i keep looking for more?
