Dude, someone out there knows their onions and im needing to speak with that chap (or chapess).
I ve been trying to run my 101 v8 on woodgas so i can shove 2 fingers up to the taxmax and keep more cash in my pocket. i did run the truck for 1 mile on woodgas and broke down.... not surprising as the system bunged up. Looking on woodgas forums a high cyl capacity, high compression engine is whats needed!
The woodgas system is now back outa my 101 and crated up into a trailer which im going to use as a test rig before it goes back in the 101.
Talking to a butty of mine, a 2 1/4 diesel bottom end with a petrol head should go together and the diesel distributor pump come out and a distributor go in its place. my question is ...is this marrying up of lumps possible and is anything likely to crash about in an unorganised split- second party that ends in disaster??

cheers for that....i guess i ll be starting the new project fairly shortly then. Hopefully this motor will go into a 2a fc i ve got my eye on. :D

I think "Wood Gas" is Yank-Speak for methyl alcohol, methanol, CH3OH.

It is a good enough fuel BUT ... you would have to use about twice as much of that as you would use gasoline / petrol to get the same output from the engine.

It needs high compression ratios, and a VERY hefty spark.

Another thing to watch out for is valves and pistons. You really don't want them hitting each other. Look into the camshaft valve-timing and lift between a diesel camshaft and a petrol camshaft - they may not be identical.

If the 2.25 diesel uses flat-ish pistons (I think so) your plan may not bring the compression ratio up as you hope.

The power output from a 2.25 running on methanol might be about 60 bhp flat out. Consider a bicycle if you are in a rush.
