Disco 3 (LR3) 1st gear problem

Hi all. I have a Discovery 3 manual 2.7 tdv6 xs which is perfect in every way apart from it's being problematic selecting 1st gear and sometimes juggle between reverse and 3rd. I had a new cam belt fitted a yr ago which I know is a body-off job, could this have affected it? 2nd is, well, ok and all the others are fine. Any suggestions please. Ta.

Just a quick heads up, to change the front and rear cam belts u don’t have to remove the body , can be done in skilled hands under 5 x hours

I think I saw something about the 1st gear issue, see if I can find it

Body off for the belts. It's a few hours work, nothing more. If the place that did the belts took the body off, then you need to find a more competent garage.
It could be the problems highlighted by Gary above.
Another guess is a fault with the XYZ sensor, however it needs to have the sensor checked with a suitable diagnostic device.

Second, Body off to do the belts might also be called a rip off IMHO

Dont forget in the early days of the D3 it was body off to do the belts.
